Behind the photograph

As evening fell and the beach began to empty, I found four dogs resting on the sand. I approached slowly, careful not to disturb their sleep. It was their space; I was a visitor.

I included my feet as a discreet way of inhabiting the scene, keeping the animals and the serenity of their rest at its centre.

This photograph marks a return to observation and the desire to keep creating. Its recognition at the 2025 IPPAWARDS encouraged me to reconnect with photography and seek images rooted in lived experience, beyond digital metrics. I dedicate this mention to my dogs: Ikki and Brownie.
