For four years, I lectured in the Faculty of Communication at Universidad de Medellín, teaching Film Appreciation and Plan Variable Gráfico Publicitario 1 (Art Direction and Styling for Photography). My approach centred on trusting each student’s perspective and supporting their creative decisions.
My students received three Premios Huella—awards recognising the Faculty’s best student work each year—two in the Written Work category and one in the Advertising Graphic System category, the latter for a project developed jointly with the Taller 4 course.

I had the opportunity to invite José Javier to serve on the jury for one of the categories of the Demuestra awards, and that day I realised I was in the presence of a true teacher.
Some time later, I invited him to join my teaching team for the Film Appreciation course. Since then, I have been able to appreciate at first hand a combination that I consider particularly important in academia: strong critical thinking, an inquisitive approach to his discipline and impeccable professional practice.
José Javier is one of those lecturers who do more than pass on knowledge. He has the ability to question, open up new perspectives and encourage his students to think beyond the obvious. Added to this are his commitment, rigour and, above all, a genuine passion for what he does and for the people he supports in their learning.
That is why I recommend him. I am certain that his judgement, sensitivity, creativity and commitment will be a valuable contribution to any team or project he joins.
